Good day folks and readers. I hope this article meets you well.
With the continuous protests against the activities of SARS in Nigeria, I decided to write about our position, so instead of projecting neutrality you can know where ETT stands and of course where I personally stand.
We support the agitation to end Police brutality and extortion in Nigeria. We stand against such injustice, not only in Nigeria but in the whole of Africa. The phrase "Police is your friend" means exactly the opposite in Nigeria, and this must stop.
In the same vein, we also stand against internet fraud. We stand against ‘Yahoo +’. We stand against money rituals. We stand against young or old scamming people thru their emails and anonymous phone calls. With one hand we hold the placard #EndPoliceBrutality and with the other hand we say #EndInternetFraud.
You see, majority of Nigerians still believe that our problem is from the leaders. They still hold that it is a leadership problem. While I do not excuse wrongs from these leaders, I feel very strongly that our problem is from bottom to top and not the other way. A tree doesn’t rot from top, it dries from the roots. So a skilled agriculturist will not focus on the problem at the branches level, but he will go straight to the root.
Until we are honest and sincere enough to deal with the root problem (singular), we will continue to create bigger problems in an attempt to solve another one.
#EndPoliceBrutality
#EndInternetFraud
