Tithing is one of the delicate subjects in the Christian fold today and one of the reasons for this is because many popular pastors especially in Nigeria have a rather subjective view of the concept. However, we have a responsibility to provide a clear biblical stand on the subject and others regardless of what popular people may say. Primarily, tithing was meant for Levites who had no inheritance among the Israelites. Like other God’s laws in the Old Testament, when the parameters needed to fulfill them physically are not present, the laws become dormant, even though their spiritual relevance are still intact.
